Star alignment process
« on: 2018 January 08 14:22:10 »
A really simple one.

It would be very useful to have the file name for the reference image stored in the file header following the StarAlignment process. If I'm adding images to a previously aligned set I've usually forgotten to make a note of the reference used previously which means re-aligning the entire set instead of just the new images.

Hi Andrew,
FWIW, I always use my cholce of the best calibrated sub from the first night’s session.  I delete all other caibrated subs, but this reference sub, once star align is complete.  Consequently, the first folder has the original subs, the registered subs, and the one alignment calibrated sub.  Easy to find on subsequent alignments.

This works for me, but your approach would be easier if you prefer keeping all your calibrations.

Hi Andrew,

every object that I photograph receives an accompanying file from me. This contains everything from recording conditions, editing details to a comparative image from the Internet, and, of course, the name of the reference image.
In the same way you can or you should save the applied tools in a project at PixInsight itself. When you open it you will see the reference image.
