I've been trying to integrate 20 images of the recent Jupiter Mars conjunction with FFT registration. There are no stars or moons visible so star alignment wont work. FFT registration doesn't seem to align them. The attached image is the result of the first and last image. All the images are calibrated with bias, darks and flats, cosmetically corrected and debayered.
I did managed to use FFT registration to integrate some other longer exposures which have Jupiter's moons showing but even this didnt work until I applied cosmetic correction to all of them. I'm not sure why this made a difference.
I'm about to give up, which is a shame, unless anyone can help.
