1.8.6 Crash

Any way to recover work after a crash in version 1.8.6?  In two years never had a crash.  First try with 1.8.6 didn't go well.

Can you please provide some useful information about this problem?

- Operating system
- Hardware
- Error messages
- Information to reproduce the issue
- Ideally, a reduced data set where the problem can be reproduced
