Since I have installed PixInsight Core 01.08.05.1353 Ripley (x64) on different Win 7 /64 Bit PC's I had problems with disappearing  - "blue" filename buttons and also with the blue desktop shortcut button. I reported this earlier and was told it can happen by launching PI from the installer, but a fresh installation helped just temporarily.

Meanwhile I re-installed PI several times (on different computers) to may fix this, but could never figure out when exactly this happens .. but today.

I did an MS Visual Studio 2017 update and after the update the "blue" filename buttons and also  the blue desktop shortcut button is gone, meaning I can still see a PI desktop shortcut button but that is (I think) just  a standard windows symbol for shortcuts.

Please note that I am unable to control or predict what a third-party application does on your machine. If something is wrong after installing or updating another application, please try to fix the other application.

That said, as you know we have a small problem with icons being reset on Windows after installing and launching the application as an administrator user. You reported this issue, which I already have fixed in the next version.

Hi Juan,

thanks for the info. With my report I was just trying to give an idea where to may start searching for the problem .

I have like + 50 shortcuts from other programs on my desktop and all have their own graphic symbol and none of them did ever disappear , I installed Maxim DL ages ago and the filename icons
(graphic symbol ) for FITS files are visible and stable since ages, but in PI (for xisf files) they disappear all the time since the last update , but it is not impossible a other program or setting is causing this.
