The X in the upper right works the same as the file and exit. It's just old habit.

I meant to add to that last posting that having to specifically use the EXIT option rather than hitting the Windows close program 'X' sounds like it may be a bug.

The three ways to exit PixInsight, namely:

- FILE > Exit

- Close the main application window.

- Enter the exit command in Process Console.

Are completely equivalent. There is no bug.

Just installed the new rev Juan. Thanks for the update. As for the issue I have, it is totally reproducible even with the new rev though I have no trouble using File/Exit in the future instead of clicking on the X..

Juan,

I will only mention this issue this last time since it's not catastrophic for me and I don't want to take up more of your time. I have tried this with all  explorer tabs. The only one that this happens with is the Process explorer and it happens consistently.

Hi Tom,

I have just released an update for the Windows version of PixInsight 1.8.5 that should fix this problem. Basically, the update deploys a valid version of this system component (ucrtbase.dll, Microsoft Universal C Runtime) in the PixInsight distribution. After the update, PixInsight will ignore the ucrtbase.dll component installed on the host machine and will use its own valid version exclusively.

Please let me know if the update solves this problem.

Hi Juan,  I do appreciate your efforts to unravel issues in a very complex piece of software. I see where you placed ucrtbase.dll in Bin directory. Ucrtbase.dll was supposedly taken care of by a Microsoft 2015 Windows update which was done on my PC.

After the recent updates, prior to the last one, I lost the PI icon on my XISF file types. The latest update fixed that after uninstalling and reinstalling PI.

As to my first issue, I assume most people use the default Process Explorer launch which is Special GUI Effects/Animate Autohide Windows checked. I have always used this default in V1.8.4, and the first time I unchecked this option  is with 1.8.5 and that was when this problem showed up for me.  The issue is still 100% repeatable so that when I click the Windows X to shut the program down, Pixinsight is still running in Task Manager and till I manually shut it down, I am unable to relaunch PI. Again, I can easily either check the animate GUI option or use File/Exit to leave the program so it's not a big deal for me.
