1.8.5 missing L-button on toolbar

A minor bug, but I am missing the L-button (extract lightness) on the toolbar . Is this with indend?

Opps, I hadn't noticed it! There are two missing icons in that toolbar.

I don't know if Juan commented the reason in some previous post, but this is a very useful button, I will miss it if cannot be restored.

I am using Linux, what is your system Tobias?

I think it's a high dpi issue. If I lower the resolution for my monitor or play with the scaling factors in the global preferences you can make it come and go away. My guess it's a QT issue.

Thanks Mike! I went from 70 to 120 dpi without luck. Not critical but would be a pity not having it.

I have Windows, on Mac OS it is obviously the same problem.

This is not a bug, it is intentional. When the application is executed on small monitors with horizontal resolutions under 1920 logical pixels, this icon is not shown. This is to favor inclusion of more important (IMO) icons, such as AutoStretch icons, in the default toolbar configuration.

If there is major consensus in that this toolbar button is so important, I can rebuild the ColorSpaces module to bring it back at all resolutions. Anyway, you can always extract lightness with IMAGE > Extract > Lightness (CIE L*), or directly with the ChannelExtraction tool.

Hi Juan,
thank you for your answer. My resolution is 1920x1080 and the icon is not shown, although there were more then enough space for it. I am pretty sure in the previous version it was shown on the same resolution. I use it very often for building masks, so i would be very lucky if I could use it the easy way through the toolbar.

Unfortunately, the icon is hidden for resolutions <= 1920. Don't worry, the icon will be shown again at all resolutions. I'll release an update to the ColorSpaces module as soon as possible. Now I see that my decision was wrong; thank you for pointing this out.

I have just released an update to the ColorSpaces module for all platforms. The Extract CIE L* component toolbar button is now shown at all screen resolutions.
