1.8.5 - Mac OSX - Drag to Mask
« on: 2017 August 04 02:25:18 »
Fresh install of 1.8.5 on OSX 10.11.6 iMac with Retina Display and I can't get dragging of a tab on one image onto another to apply a mask to work, it just creates a new copy of the image.

Hi Chris,

This is a known issue with 1.8.5 on macOS, but it is a very minor issue, actually. Sometimes when you start dragging an item on macOS, the mouse cursor does not place itself outside the element you are dragging (it must be at the left side of the element). You know that this happens because either the mouse cursor does not change to indicate the drop action you're about to perform, or it changes incorrectly. When this happens, simply press Esc to abort the operation and try again, perhaps moving the mouse a bit more slowly. It works without problems. As you continue working with PixInsight, you'll notice that dragging actions become more responsive.

I am really sorry about these issues on macOS. The problem is an unresolved Qt bug that has turned into a serious regression in the latest versions. I'll try to do my best to fix this problem as soon as possible.

Hi Juan

Got it, thanks. You do need to be ultra precise where the drop happens on the target image and slowing down the drag as you approach does make it work 90% of the time.

Chris

ps loving the new Large Scale Rejection addition to Image Integration. I had a few images with very stubborn plane trails and it deals with those just brilliantly

Not to be a debbie downer, but this exact same problem is also manifesting on Windows 10... I can't drag to mask either, it only makes a copy of my mask image.

EDIT: I was able to get it to work if I drag to the target image well off of the identifier tab.

This is normal behavior, that is, it has always worked just that way. Dropping on a view selector is used to copy zoom and position among views, not to set a mask.
