Hi,

I'm running Windows 7 and I just check. I'm having no issue with drag and drop from windows explorer to the PI workspace, either xisf files or xpsm process icons. Checked and double clicking a xisf file with PI closed will open PI with the file also. Sorry I'm not sure where your problem would be other then file associations not be set in Windows for some reason possibly.

the file association seem to be correct  .
if I double click the xisf file ,  the file will open in the PI desktop and an error message pop up .

Check the task manager and see if there is another instance of PI open or QT in the background. Close them if they are. I saw this once. One thing to remember is that Windows 7 is officially not test supported by PI. I still run it because I like it and I still have hardware that has no driver support in Windows 10 so I have no choice for now. Some day I'll have to switch but I'm hopping it's still a ways off ::)

Here is the statement from the PI System Requirements page about Windows 7. http://www.pixinsight.com/sysreq/index.html

Quote
Windows 7 is no longer one of our mainstream supported platforms. We make efforts to ensure that PixInsight still works on Windows 7 SP1, but we no longer test the application on this Windows version, so we cannot guarantee that it will work without issues.

They will not work with 1.8.5 :'(   I miss all of his modules. You can PM Carlos and ask more about this since these were not official PI tools. They need to be rewritten and compiled. All third party Process Modules will need to be recompiled I believe.

 Thank you , Mike  :)
Can I install 2 instance of Pi   both 1.8.4 and 1.8.5  in the same PC ?  I can then use the new features of 1.8.5 and still be able to use TGVInpaint  :)

In the most technical since no:sealed: What you can do is install Windows or Linux in a virtual machine on the same computer with another PI version on that system. I have a second computer running Windows 7 that I remote into. That has PI 1.8.4 on it. I normally don't use that machine for any processing, only as a test bed computer. It's very low on processor power and resources compared to my normal PI machine so not the best to use.

The problem with 2 installs of PI in Windows is they would use the same configuration files which you can guess will cause you all kinds of grief.

One other thing to note, while you can open a project that was processed in 1.8.4 with a third party module in 1.8.5 it won't work correctly if you move in history to points where those third party process were used. Also if you nade a change to the project it would not open correctly if at all in 1.8.4 again I believe. I have not tested that but I would assume it would not work. So running with mixed version is tricky at best.

One other thing, any process icons that were built from third party tools will give you an error if you try to open them in 1.8.5.
