Problem saving files in FITS format
« on: 2009 April 03 04:20:46 »
Hi there,
I've got the following error in Windows XP version (not found before on Mac version):
--------------
Writing file:
C:/Documents and Settings/user/My Documents/My Pictures/Astrofoto/M101/M101(1).FTS
*** PCL Exception: PCL FITS Format Support: Unable to create FITS file:
C:/Documents and Settings/user/My Documents/My Pictures/Astrofoto/M101/M101(1).FTS
<* failed *>
-------------

Saving in jpg or tiff formats works fine.

Any help is welcome. Thanks !
Jose-Luis.

Gracias Caliu. Alguna otra idea ?
Saludos,
Jose-Luis.

Hola José Luis

Welcome to PixInsight Forum

The problem is in the parentheses. It seems that CFITSIO (http://heasarc.gsfc.nasa.gov/fitsio/) interprets the parentheses in some special way. PI uses CFITSIO to implement FITS format support. This happens on both Windows and Linux; still haven't tried on OS X. Replace them with any other legal character and it should work.

I'll investigate this to see if we can fix it in version 1.5. Sorry for the inconveniences.

Bienvenido a PixInsight Forum.

Right !. It works now. No parentheses is the solution.
Thanks Juan.
José-Luis.
