Pixinsight image is darker than web and Ps.
« on: 2017 March 05 09:16:13 »
Hello. My Pixinsight image is darker than the image displayed in Photoshop and web pages, so it is not a thing with Photoshop. What can I do? Here is a screenshot with the settings, and another one with a comparison. I am baffled, as the srgb profile is the same on both.

Ok, so I noticed this: The final image after processing in pix and ps, appears the same in both programs and the web. But when I first start processing in pix it is always darker, which makes processing difficult because I cannot apply histogram and curves, I don't get the correct brightness. And I haven't figured out yet at which point the image becomes the same in all programs. I always save in tif 16 bit. I will try to save at each step of the processing and compare, so maybe I'll find why this is happening.

If you are comparing images in their linear form, then it almost certainly has to do with the auto-stretch settings of your Screen Transfer Function process.  Open that process and command or control-click on the radioactive symbol.  Adjust the target background upward and your images will now all be a bit brighter on the screen.  This does not affect the actual image - just how it is displayed on the screen.
