Pixinsight won't launch Ubuntu MATE 16.04
« on: 2017 March 12 00:30:24 »
I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu MATE on a system, ran all the updates, and then installed Pixinsight. The behavior I'm getting is when I run the launcher from Applications>Graphics>Pixinsight, a PI icon graphic pops up down in the docklet at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds and then disappears. No splash screen for PI shows up and no error boxes appear. Not sure why this isn't working. I'm a novice at Linux, so I'm not sure where to look to find a log that may explain what's happening. Not sure if there are some dependencies involved and I'm missing libraries or what. Any ideas on what to chase down as far as reasons why I can't get PI to launch? Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

I think I found my own answer here :https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=10026.msg63490#msg63490

Was missing a library that PI was dependent on. Launching PixInsight.sh from Terminal told me what I needed to know.
