Startup memory violation

I have been running PI fine for some time. Today I went to start it up, and got an error popup

     Memory access violation address 0x0000000.

PI never comes up after this.

I have tried running as administrator, running the second copy of PI, running with Control key pressed. No luck.

I rebooted the machine, no luck.

I uninstalled/reinstalled (1.8.4.1195), no luck.

I am running Win10 64 bit on a lenovo laptop. No other problems have been occurring. I have not updated any software, etc; I have Windows update turned off (for about 2 months now) so it doesn't keep messing things up.

What else can I do to get this working again?

I should also note that when performing the Control key start the memory violation occurs before the screen warning about clearing the settings.

Finally got it fixed.

In the folder AppData\Roaming\Pleiades is a file PixInsight.ini. It looked OK, although I don't know what it should have in it. Anyway, renamed the file and Pixinsight was able to start (and immediately made a new version of the file).
