New User/Windows Errors
« on: 2016 November 27 21:53:56 »
Just bought and installed latest version of PI. Have been running into some memory access errors when running DBE especially, but with occasional errors in other modules. Specifically a memory address error pops up when I first try to add a point to the image in DBE, and thereafter immediatelu whenever I move the the cursor pointer across the edge of the image, but then when I close and re-open DBE it seems fine

Also, I cannot get some keyboard shortcuts to work, such as CTRL-+ for zoom in.

Any suggestions?

I tried the manual scaling on my Surface Book at 2.0 and it worked fine for hours, thought I had it! But tonight I was running Background Neutraliation and I got a memory error that just wouldn't close. I had to force close the app.

Does this happen only with touchscreen? I'm in the market for a dedicated Astro PC and would get a non-touch screen if that would solve it.

I only ever have problems on my Dell with high res touch screen.  PI is very stable on my desktop system and my old Lenovo laptop.

Thanks Rick, did you do the manual scaling setting on your Dell? And still have problems after that?

This is weird to say the least. Computers and software applications are deterministic systems. If it works in a given initial state, it will work the same way while the initial state does not change. Are you sure your preferences settings were the same when it failed again?

Hi Wayne,

I did set up the manual scaling and haven't noticed any problems since, but I also haven't used the Dell very much since then.

Cheers,
Rick.
