Update Issue with PI 1.8 Ripley
« on: 2014 July 17 14:00:04 »
Hello,
I'm new to this forum, but i use PI for some time now.
Lately i upgraded my windows to W8.1.

When i start PI i get the message, that new updates are for me - i downloaded this packages (as i always do), and when i exit PI it asks me to update - click YES.

from now - nothing happens, no error message. For 1/2 sec coursor changes to "thinking" icon and nothing. No process for PixInsight update procedure.

Can you help me with this issue?

Best wishes
Pawel

Pawel,

I use Windows 7 and also get this sometimes, but if I wait, maybe a minute or two, PI starts up on it's own and finishes the install. Most of the time it restarts after a few seconds.

So have you left it a while to see if it starts up again?

Mike

Hi Mike,
unfortunately nothing happens :-(

I pressed button to update (after exiting PI) and nothing (for the next 2-3 hours).

Reinstalling of PI helps nothing.

Hi Pawel,

I don't have access to a Windows machine right now (I'm supposed to be on vacation) so I can't give you precise steps to follow, but I'd check your user access control (UAC) configuration. Chances are that you have UAC disabled or configured using a too restrictive policy. I hope this helps you.

Hi Juan,

Thanks for Reply. My UAC is off :-( Totally no restrictions - still no changes.

I will try to uninstall and again install PI with registry clean.

Hello,
sorry for bringing up such a long forgotten post, but my issue still remains :-(
Right now a have W10 and when i want to update my PI - i cannot - update doesn't start.

Is there a chance, that somebody meet this issue and know how to solve this?

Thank you again
