Dual Monitors
« on: 2016 August 09 09:22:13 »
I know I have seen this discussion before but can't find it.  I am thinking about adding a second monitor for processing in PI but what is the best way to set up that workstation or at least what are some suggestions on how to maximize the benefits in PI.

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

PixInsight works nicely on a two-monitor system with the following constraints:

- Both monitors should work at the same resolution.

- The monitors should be configured horizontally. The first monitor at the left side, where you'll have PixInsight's main window maximized. The second monitor at the right side, where you can have your tool windows and other top level windows such as Process Console, Process Explorer, etc.

- Instead of maximizing the main window on the left monitor, you can use VIEW > Full Desktop and then resize it to cover the right side monitor partially, as desired. This allows you to place your icons on the right side monitor, if you move the maximization limit to the central boundary. Just an idea :)

Anyone else notice a quirk with dual monitors where the PixInsight splash screen is clipped and only the top left quarter is visible?

Happens with my Mac Thunderbolt monitor and a Lenovo HDMI monitor too.

Juan,

I have run into a small issue with the dual monitors.  I have saved my workspace as a project like I always did with one monitor since I like to keep my process icons handy on the far right of the screen.  With the two monitors, however, whenever I load up the project, all but a couple of icons set up to the far right of the left monitor rather than the right monitor.  Only ones that do wnat I want (i.e., far right on right monitor) are PixelMath and Blink.  This is not a big issue, just an irritant since I then have to reposition all the icons each time I start up.

Not sure anything can be done but thought I would mention it.

Thanks,

Jim
