A way to use Mure Denoise with Drixzzle Integration
« on: 2016 August 22 07:33:05 »
I know Mure can't be used on drizzle integrated images.  But how about using Mure on the raw subs prior to the initial star alignment from where the drizzle files are initiated?  Run Mure right after Calibration (either right before or after Cosmetic Correction).  Then run star alignment and proceed through drizzle integration.  Will That work?

Yes that will work, but note weak signals may be lost that would have been preserved if denoised after integration with no drizzle.

So--what is better--to use Mure and not drizzle at 2.58as/p or use Mure on raw subs and drizzle?  Using a Televuie np101is with .8 reducer (FR 4.2) and STT8300 with 5.4um pixels.  I have always liked Drz Int.  But I like the Mure script too.

Might have to try both and compare. First should have higher dim target SNR, second should have higher bright object resolution. Which is better?

I tried it on 4 subs--I demured after calibration and CC then aligned and stacked.  I could not see indications of loss of weak signal.  Did not have enough subs for drizzle though, so can't take the experiment to the end. It would be great if Mure denoise could be worked into the BPP script so it would be run on all subs right after batch calibration.  Hint...hint...

Note that when denoising subs weak signal loss gets worse with increasing combination count. 4 subs may not be enough to see the problem. Look carefully, this is not a theoretical issue.
