Separate Large Scale & Small scale elaboration
« on: 2008 December 25 14:23:47 »
Hi,
I've been tempted by the incredible image of Vicent Peris to try this process, but I 've got only poor results.

I've tried to mix the learnings from the processing example of NGC 7331 and an old tutorial  on multiscale processing with pixinsght LE (both from Vicent Peris).

The biggest issue at present seems the bright halo of some saturated stars: when I combine back the LS and SS with the original I end with broad "dark halos" around this stars.

I suspect the the problem is both in the Large scale image extraction and in the next steps of the process.

I know that there is an article on this subject published on a spanish magazine, does someone have a reprint in English?

Can someone help and guide me in the process?

Many thanks in advance!
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

I'm sorry to reply you so late, I'm out of home... Please show us some images:

- The original one, prior to wavelet processing.
- The large scale image.
- The small scale image (in case you have it).
- The recombined image.

I cannot say you anything without taking a look at the images. Please, keep in mind that these techniques are hard to dominate; be patient, and of course have fun practicing.  :D

Best regards,
Vicent.

Hi Vicent, thank you very much for your reply.
Unfortunately my kid destroyed a full hard disk of data.
I need to go through the restore  and then produce the files again (not covered by the backup...)
i'll be back in a few days with the files you requested.
Thanks again,
Andrea
