The 'Progressive Astro Imaging Group' (PAIG) is a forum dedicated to astro-imaging, and as far as we are aware, the only forum that truly specialises in astro-imaging.
A completely independent forum, not tied to any sponsor, or commercial advertising. A forum provided by astro-imagers, for astro-imagers.
A forum where the culture is one of constructive criticism, as opposed to meaningless 'mutual back-patting'.
Many of our members, including myself, are PixInsight users, and Harry Page is a valued member of our 'support team' (we don't have, or need moderators).

Well, I noticed that another astro forum had been announced and detailed in this section of the 'board', so thought that it must be ok to do so.
In addition, as PixInSight is software dedicated to the processing of astro images, and our forum is dedicated to astro imaging and image processing, I thought it might be of interest to members here.
However, I did add, that if this 'thread' was considered inappropriate for this 'board', then it should be deleted.

I don't know if this assertion is true for English speaking forums, but I know of astrophotography forums in other languages.

There may well be others Andres, English or Non-English speaking, and dedicated astro-photography forums, but we are not aware of them.
Hence my saying "as far as we are aware".
Other astro forums of which we are aware, cover pretty much everything astronomy, but specialising in no one particular area. PAIG is purely an astro-maging forum.

PAIG seems to have died. Pity, it was quite a good site, but aside from a few regulars there was not much support.

I vey much disagree to your statement which i understand you think as nobody helps Newcomers here.
What help do you need here?

You have been very helpful. I have no gripes about that at all. That plus the effort you have done to support the community show a genuine interest in the PixInsight community.
However, a casual look at the forums and having posted questions and not having responses in general from the owners of this forum shows a complete lack of interest in their customers. That plus the fact that way over 60% of the processes are NOT documented and that PixInsight has really lousy support by email leads to a VERY frustrating experience for the people putting money in their pockets. When there is a response from the PixInsight team, it's trivial, happens only once and then that's it.
Extremely unprofessional and not up to the standards of what this product could be.

So I'm all for a third party "PixInsight" forum.
So totally disenchanted by this kharma and this forum.

Let me justify this a little more...
67 out of 86 processes in PixInsight for Windows are NOT documented.Sure you can look all over the place for tutorials and help, but many of them are not complete. Do you know how much time I wasted to find out how to create a defect list? Yes, there are links to Harry's sight, but the links don't work. And when you find one on YouTube, details that you would need are missing.
So how much do us users have to waste in time before the PixInsight teams decides to take pride in their work and document and offer real technical support? Or do we have to go to third parties and pay for this help?
Totally inexcusable and unprofessional. The PixInsight team should be ashamed of this and there should not be any new processes added unless there is documentation. What's the point? Is this a hobby for the PixInsight team only?
We pay good money for this!! I I bet you us hobbyists are the ones lining their pockets not the professional users who maybe don't need all the docs.

I'm sure that the Pixinsight team (of one person plus a few part-time volunteers) would love to have the bandwidth to keep building and improving the software while writing reams of quality documentation and offering hours of individual support and handholding to every customer. Unfortunately, I can't believe that the economics of the business will support that. Astronomical image processing is a tiny niche mostly populated by hobbyists with limited funds.
I'm personally just grateful for such a sophisticated and continually improving package at a bargain price (especially if you consider the lack of a yearly maintenance tax). If I have to experiment a bit for myself and dig through forum posts to figure out how to do things then then that seems a small price to pay.
Perhaps with a more positive attitude you'd also find people more willing to help...

Sorry, but a general trend on this forum is that unless you complain nobody takes notice.
Three emails to support over the last two weeks and not a single reply. As to writing documentation? Not doing so is pure disrespect of their users especially since they do not have any tech support.
