Hi,
I would like to share with you this little video showing how are defined and applied white and background references for color calibration in PixInsight:

I hope you find it useful.

All I get is "This video contains music from SME, and therefore is not available in Germany. GEMA did not give us a license,". :-[
(GEMA is a german copyright organization).

I have changed the sound, sorry.

Nice video! Very useful to demonstrate the color calibration. Thank you!
- could it be added to the PixInsight channel on youtube?
- Which software did you use for screen recording?

Thanks Georg.
If Juan is agree, he has my autorization to include this video on PixInsight YouTube channel.
For record screen I use aTube Catcher (free version).

Hi,
Good video!
Nice work!
In this module i really do not understand the "Structure Detection", what does this function really do?
In what cases has it to be selected? I see you do not select it but i thought this should be selected for galaxies??
Hmm, i like to learn every day O0
Cheers

Hi Lex,
Structure Detection should be used if you want to calibrate using stars on your image - in other words, if you do not have galaxy. With galaxy, Structure Detection should be switched off and only brightness limits should be used to select as much of the galaxy as possible. General goal is to have widest possible population of stars as your white reference (galaxy is ideal object from that point of view, but not always available).
The Color Calibration module works in the way it tries to grant sampled population of stars widest possible range of colors from red to blue, assuming there are stars of all types, from red giants to hot blue stars.
For more info about Structure Detection yes or no, I suggest Harry Page video on the subject. It is discussed there.
regards, Zbynek
