Title: Star Trails
Post by: Nigel Ball on 2010 October 29 03:48:48
Hi

Maybe be a daft question but here goes

I'm looking at doing some star trail photography. There will be a number of 15-30s exposures (wide field) to be stacked say 200+ with no alignment

Is it possible to stack Star Trails images in PI?

Manolo

Thank you for the link

I see you combined 88 images of 5 minutes at ISO 400 f/6.7

If I understand correctly you then combine using the Maximum option?

Would you be able to give me an idea of the workflow in English?

Thanks

Nigel

Maybe this script can be useful:

Thanks Enzo

I've downloaded the script and will give it a try once I've collected some data

Hello everyone
A very interesting script.
I will try to recover my old files with RAW used to make star trails and use the script with them.
As for subtracting the masterdark, if this is the same as in my case, for the series of images, the result should be similar to making a single subtraction of result of the sum of maxima.
On that occasion I made a sum of maxima of darks, instead of a masterdark to subtract from the sum. Later I realized that this was not a good procedure, because the sum of maximum of the darks produced an image that had elevated random points that were not in the maximum sum of the traces, and subtracting this image originated black spots on the result of subtraction.

Greetings.

Saludos.
