Title: Failure of PixInsight to boot up after MacBook Pro is shutdown
Post by: BobLa on 2020 January 25 07:08:06
Has anyone had the experience of a startup failure of PixInsight after ii is installed, working properly and can be restarted as long as the computer has not been turned off. However, once the computer has been turned off and restarted PixInsight fails to reboot.

The only way I can proceed is to reinstall the program, reload the updates then proceed to use the program. If I turn the computer  off, the program will not run again when the computer is restarted.

Any ideas about what is going on?

I have contacted Apple and we have tried two different versions of the operating system, High Sierra and Mojave and the behavior of the program is the same on both operating systems. Someone that I have spoken to has suggested the problem is caused by a virus protection program. I am using Malwarebytes and have tried turning the protection off and on but have experienced the same result.

Sorry to hear about your problems BobLa. For me PixInsight starts fine after I reboot my MacBook running Catalina.

This is a known and fixed problem:

Just install the new 1.8.8-4 installation package I released yesterday. It is available on our software distribution server.
