Title: Paint Brush type tool to adjust masks
Post by: thekubiaks on 2020 January 18 20:25:03
I'd like a paintbrush type tool (Photoshop) to adjust and tailor the mask when you want to work on specific areas of the mask.

Thanks

You can use a combination of CloneStamp and the GAME script to achieve quite a bit.

Best,

Hand-painted masks are contrary to PixInsight's ethical principles. Even if we implement more drawing and painting tools in the future, painting images or masks will always be considered bad practice here.

See FAQ 1.11 for a complete discription:

dear Juan,

fully respecting your attitude that follows well laid principles, please don't take it as an offence:

Getting rid of nasty artefacts like shown below is a difficult problem.
They can ruin a otherwise beautiful picture and are very hard to come by using the processes or scripts that are available now.
Some artefacts can be addressed by processes (e.g. bad pixels, gradients, vignetting),
but some still need the human ability to distinguish them from signal.
There are tricky ways to construct and compile masks (I enjoy finding ways basically),
but sometimes it could be more easy to obtain the obvious.
More support for this (in which way ever) would surely be welcomed by many users.

Manipulation of pics in a dishonest way can not be suppressed by taking away tools,
people always will find their ways - its a matter of personality.

best, Tommy
