Same error than 'passer_by'
Here Win 8.1 x64
Disk D not exist , then same error message
If I answer several times 'continue' PI starts
I'd remove the last version and reinstall the old : not error but impossible to get update of course
I saw that it would be possible to download 'api-ms-win-core-heap-I2-1-0.dll' but I'm afraid to get a malware on these website

Same problem:

I clicked ok 3 times and the PixInsight works.
I reinstalled the software but nothing changed.
When i restart, same problem, same solution.
Win 7 x64
Problem solved. I found api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-l1-2-0.dll (32-Bit) and copied it to PixInsight Bin.

So if we install the missing DLL will PI end up working?
-
I attempted to update to 1.8.8-3 on a Win-7 64 laptop . Get api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-l1-2-0.dll missing message. PI loads, but to a black screen. Have attempted re-install multiple times to no avail.. My antivirus programs warn me of downloading Dlls online. Is there an easy fix?
Thanks

Please see my answer to a similar forum thread (https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=14427.msg86321#msg86321).
In short:
- The file you are referring to is a critical system component. It should be available on any clean and reasonably up-to-date Windows installation.
- Windows 7 and Windows 8 are not supported. The only Windows version supported by current versions of PixInsight is Windows 10.
-
I have on Laptop programs that do not work well with win 10. And there are many who still use win 7, which is still ok. I don't understand why everyone wants so much to force others to use win 10. Still win 10 is not compatible with many programs.

We don't force others to do anything. We cannot have the time and human resources required to develop a project with the complexity of PixInsight on four major platforms, plus two obsolete operating systems, each of them with specific idiosyncrasies.
