Title: Deblooming and removing microlense artifacts
Post by: tj on 2006 September 28 01:42:05
Hi,

when talking about image processing with other people it looks like that the most annoying thing are blooming and microlense artifacts.

My special wish is a highly sophisticated and efficient filter for removing those image artifacts.

Thanks and best regards,
  TJ

Hello TJ,

Thanks for reminding us this. Of course, an efficient deblooming tool is in order. Good point.

As you probably know, PixInsight Standard is a modular, open-architecture platform, where all processes and file formats are implemented as external modules. Why am I telling you this? Because it would be wonderful if other developers cheer up to write their own PixInsight modules implementing a wide range of image processing tools. Of course we are looking for prospective developers, but if a number of potential PixInsight users encourage them, it would be of great help in this sense.

A deblooming tool is an excellent example. We can try to write one, but take into account that our work load is immense, so we may be a bit slow (a few examples: we have to finish PixInsight, the PCL development framework, many complex processes, documentation, tutorials...)

Thank you very much for your interest.
