Title: Image Acquisition or Pre-processing

Somewhere, perhaps in one of the tutorials from 2012, I saw something that said one of the goals of the PI team is to eventually develop a PI module for image aquisition or for pre-processing, not sure which.  Did I see that correctly?  Is that or one of those still a goal for PI and, if so, what's the progress in that direction?
