Rho Ophiuchi Region

twade:
To all,

Here's an image I took of the Rho Ophiuchi region back in May.  Given its location, I could only get thirteen 8-minute light frames at 45N.  It was taken with a modified Canon 5D2 at ISO 800 using a EOS 200mm f/2.0L lens stopped down to f/4.0. I used 24 biases, 24 flats, and 6 darks for calibration.  This was a very difficult image to process.  There was the typical low elevation atmospheric "red" gradient to remove.  In addition, there were so few neutral background areas to work with so I made a few up.  ;)

Thanks for looking,

Wade

Wade i think that is seriously awesome. Great job.

Beautiful, framing is great! Very natural feel to it.

Albert and Ignacio,

Thanks.  I hope to capture more frames next year.  I've found you need at least twenty light frames for a good signal to noise ratio with the 5d2.

Nice framing to get both IC4592 in there too. Looks good and sharp, and if you add more data you'll really bring out the colour. I tried this object from 44 degrees but gave up. Too low, and bad signal. You've done a great job here.
Tom.
