« on: 2012 June 14 11:01:48 »

Exposure: L:R:G:B :: 66:66:66:100 min.  (Total exposure 5hr)
Telescope: 110mm APO (William Optics)
Mount: Losmandy GM8

I also have 1.5 hrs of H alpha, but am having some trouble incorporating it into a decent image.

Very nice, Geoff!  From where did you shoot this?
Uncooled, unmodified Canon T2i/550D, various lenses, and AstroTrac TT320X-AG

At our astro society's dark sky site about 200km west of Sydney, Australia (Latitude 33S). It gets to a bit over 60deg above the southern horizon from here.

I'm so jealous, you Southerners have so much more interesting skies!  I've seen Eta Carina from the Winter Star Party in the Florida Keys twice, but from there it never gets more than about 7* above the horizon.  I can't imagine how much better it would be at 60*.  Visually, it's much more impressive than the Orion nebula, which looks like a puny little upstart by comparison.

Yes, but think of all those interesting galaxies you guys have in Ursa Major and Canes Venatici.  Even the Coma-Virgo cluster is a little low for good imaging down here.
