Early Veil Nebula
« on: 2012 May 12 11:22:54 »
Hi community,

this is my first narrowband image with my own equipment, but I did some narrowband images before using several remote observatories. I took this image from my balcony under 19,2 mag/arcsec sky.

Scope: TS APO65Q, 65mm f/6.5
Camera: QSI 683 WSG-8
Filter: Astrodon LRGB, 5nm HSO
Mount: Skywatcher NEQ-6

Total: 5h10min

11x10min H-alpha
10x10min [OIII]
10x10min [SII]

Hubble palette:

"Natural" color:

Click on the image for 100% view.

Tell me what you think about it...

That's lovely.  So simple but delicate.

May I ask how you get the "natural" colour from the NB filters?

I used Pixelmath with this parameters:

R = (Veil_H+Veil_S)/2
G = Veil_O
B = Veil_H*0.3+Veil_O

This has a pseudo scientific background and ist not 100% correct, but the results are fine.

Teejay,

After looking closer, try a little SCNR to green and IMO the Image will be even better after...

This object is one of my favorites and the result is very good,
 the only thing I dislike are the stars of the upper right corner.
 They are a little elongated, otherwise very good image,
 sorry for my bad English
regards

Joakin,

you are right. Unfortunately all stars at the right side are not round, that’s because the first 5 images where taken with a little tilt. :(
