Hi Geoff,

I too have used HDR Multiscale Transform and Local Histogram Equalization to bring out the details in the galaxy.

The core introduced a great problem, because there was a lot of blooming. The luminance integrations (each 5 minutes) with the 17.4 inch newtonian saturate the chip of the st-10 if used with such a bright galaxy. With tedious work I have clonestamped the region near the core to repair the strong blooming. I hope, you haven't visualized clonestamp artefacts. I intentionally scaled the core with this brightness to hide the clonestamping a little bit!
