Ah ah! You wouldn't think it would make a difference. I'll link to your tutorial rather than put my big foot in it again.

One short question about the script. I did some images yesterday with my newton and I have now the lights, darks, flats and dark flats. I thought the batch processing script would take alle the images and I just run it. But I don't find the correct place for the dark flats? How shall I include them?

Thanks,
Tobias

Hi Tobias. Pixinsight doesn't use dark flats. Only bias, darks, flats and lights. May I suggest a post in the General section. Someone will explain why, better than I can.

EDIT: I guess you could try selecting calibrate only and loading your flats and dark flats?

Lots of editing - removed sections that were frankly, incorrect and confusing. The DSLR_RAW work flow should be cleaner and easier to read and negotiate now.

Note: A big change, is removal of the calibration frame section - better left to the experts. It was misapplied - being a little over enthusiastic and not fully conversant with the finer details of image calibration in PI - my sincerest apologies.

Made a few changes and updated the title to include 1.8. Let me know if you see any 1.8 stuff that needs to change.

Sorry I have not read all the posts, but why you choose in the "Raw format Preferences" the field "create raw bayer image (RGB)" instead of "create raw bayer CFA image (monochrome)".
I think a raw CFA monochrome image has at least two advantages over the RGB image. The processing is much faster and the cosmetic correction is previewable. I see no disadvantage of the monochrome image.
If you want to use CFA images the input hint in the calibrations process should be "raw cfa" instead of only "raw".

Greetings
Tobias

this stuff long predates CosmeticCorrection... that might be why.

Old demo video - note that some info is out of date. The procedure except for some settings is essentially the same as later versions.

Video Links (Part 1 and 2)

Out of date - v1.6

First create Master Bias/Dark/Flat frames - (please refer to the section above, which is a more complete reference)

OK. I have made changes to the work flow as correctly pointed out by Tobias and others; as follows

I have removed all outdated references, except for some screen shots - replacing the screen shots is massive. I just don't have the time right now. I you feel inclined please produce some screen shots and send them to me...

New Format Explorer DSLR_RAW preferences screen shot

Reference to the use of Format Hints - raw cfa - 1.7 onwards

Moved the v1.6 videos to another post - I guess these will be of interest to some users. Essentially the same, with the exception of the Format explorer DSLR_RAW preferences selections - ignore these and use the settings in the step-by-step procedure in the first post.
