To all,

It's quite amazing what you can do with a modern DSLR.  Three 30 second images were integrated in PixInsight 1.6.1.  There is some star drift, but it doesn't really distract from the overall image.  I'll be using this lens during the Perseid meteor shower in August, assuming it's clear.  I captured 205 images this night.  They will be used for an upcoming time-lapse movie; however, it will be a while before you will see it since individually processing them is extremely time consuming.

Here are the image details:

Camera:  Modified Canon 5D2
Lens: Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L @ f/4.0
ISO: 1600
Exposure: 30 seconds (fixed tripod)

Enjoy,

Hi Wade

Are you reusing the history container for processing the other images? If you keep the workflow simple, and leave all the masks opened, you may apply the whole container to the other images with a image container. Since they all have the same exposure time, and should be quite similar, I think that this crude approach should work. At least, you'll just need to manually tweak a little bit the curves at the end.

Carlos,

I'm able to use the process/image container once during the process of editing.  Basically, I use it to flip the image, apply the first histogramTransform, and noise reduction.  After this, it is all manual.  Now if Juan was to get PixInsight to dynamically use Previews, I could use them throughout the process.  The next steps are background neutralization, and matching the median values of the Red channel to all other images using another Preview.  I'm doing this latter step all manually (i.e. tweaking the black point left or right to achieve the desired background value, for example 6389).  If you know of a formula or other method that is quicker I would love to here about it.

Thanks,

Wade

Steve, Sander, and Jack,

Thanks!  I'm about 50 percent through the 205 images.  Hopefully by the third week of August I'll have another time lapse ready.
