Thomas, I am surprised that you cannot read in the video the PixelMath text ?
I tried it with two players but did not succeed.
Thank's for providing the screenshoot.

Thank's Gerald for this great tutorial, I like it.
Is it possible to post the pixelmath formulas in this thread, I cannot read it from the video.

Hello everybody,
maybe we should wear PI-Shirts, I was also in the sky loft. I also agree, that It was a very good presentation, but I was a little disappointed, because Vicent does completely nothing what was stateted in the CEDIC agenda :-(
I was looking forward to hear something about the new functions in 1.8.

up by the fact the "CEDIC guys" were not able to provide a good functioning
beamer to support the presentations in the Sky Loft.
I cannot agree, they did their job well. I have seen four presentations in the sky-loft, two laptops worked (windows) and two worked not (linux).  Perhaps they should provide a shorter cable.

Hello,
also happens by me. Every time I load projects.
Equal OS as Harry (PI 1.7, Windows7 64).

Hi jlake,
I love it!!! Absolutely fantastic!!! NGC1977 is completely different to RGB images.

I always wondered about people's dislike for the Hubble palette.

I supose, they think the hubble palette is not natural, but the truth is, that even a streched LRGB is not natural.

If somebody asks me to share the method, I'll be embarrassed
That's what I do. Can you provide a screen copy of your personel pixelmath formula?

I have successfully made bicolor Images with Cannistras workflow in PS.

Cheers Thomas

Hello Herbert,

On the one side is the mixture of the channels with pixelmath

sorry I must say, I have no solution. To say it in clear words, we all need somebody who provides a mechanism to imitate Photoshops "selective colors".

My workflow:

PI:
HistgramTransformation with STF (auto) to all channels
RGB with Pixelmath: R=SII, G= 0,85xHa, B=OIII

PS: selective Color (to get the Hubble Color Feeling) and dynamic

PI:
StarMask (Scale=8, Smoothness=7, Small=2)
MT (Morphological Selection, Iter=10, Amout=0.15, Selection=0, Sitz 5)
2x Unsharp Mask (Std=0.8, Amount=0,75x)
JPG Export

Does this help?

Yes! I think, I understand your workaround. Thanks for your posting.

Bug Reports / Dark Structure Enhance v1.0 ignore my mask
« on: 2012 November 06 11:17:35 »
Hello,
bug or feature I do not know. If I run the DarkStructureEnhance Script, it ignors my applied mask.
Left: M33
Mid: M33 with mask shown, before DSE
Right: after DSE -> masked parts were also processed.

Hello Graham,
please tell us your experience with combining images made with different optics.
Distortion Correction ist on my wish list.

I wonder what Registar does that allows it to fit mosaics PI can't handle.
Hello,
have you successfully made mosaics with PI using a Lens between 50-20mm?

can you tell why you use Pixel Math instead of the LRGB Tool?

Gallery / All the things you don't wonna have in your images
« on: 2012 October 13 08:21:58 »
Hello,
here an unusual image for the gallery. It is the rejection high map of 21x8min Ha of the Cave Nebula in Ceqheus (not visible), made in two nights. What is it, I try :

1. Blinking Airplane, light its two engines
1a. its red position light (ha filtered)
1b. its green position light (ha filtered)
2. Bright satellite trail
3. Dim satellite trail
4. Defect columns of my STL11000k, but unreliable.
5. Hotpixel pair (unreliable), it is the same, but my telescope had an meridian flip
6. Meridian Flip of my telescope.

Enjoy it, it was all rejected  8)

Hello Georg and hello "wish list"

Does anybody else also have a lens distortion problem with wide field images?
Juan: What do you think about an implementation?

yes I do. I am not able to create a mosaic even with a good Canon EF200mm Lens (STL11k Full Frame CCD) using StarAlignment, because of the lens distortion. I have seen many mosaics made with PI with the typical "high-class" Takahashi FSQ equipment, but mosaics with other telescopes and lenses are rare, maybe even impossible.

It would be a great development for PI to close this gap, because more and more users want to do the complete processing in PI, including preprocessing and mosaic..ing.

NGC7000 in Ha RGB

Data:
Title: NGC7000 Area
Optic: Canon EF200f2.8 at f/2.8
Filter: Baader 50mm HaRGB
Camera: SBIG STL11000M C2 at -18°C, selfguiding
Exposures: Ha 10x8min, 17x Darks; RGB 14:14:14min, subexposure 2min, 10x Darks, 31x Bias, 27x Flats
Location: Kreben, Germany
Date: 9.09.2012, bad condition (transparency and clouds)
Processing:
ImageCalibration/Integration, StarAlignment, Stacking: avgSigma for RGB & Winsorized for Ha, RGB Combination, Silvercups HaRGB Script, ColorSaturation, DBE, Histogramm Streching

Processing Notes:
I am new in PI, so processing is always a challenge for me. StarAlignments log says: failed=0 but my blue images were not aligned properly. The solution was to give a 2 in HotPixelRemoval. Next I had trouble with the Auto Pixel interpolation in StarAlignment, stars in my RGB frames got dark pixels around (clamping threshold used). The solution was to give a BicubicSpline Interpolation. My 200mm telephoto lens led to undersampled frames, this may be the cause.
Than I tried to make a L-RGB Image but all stars lost their colors, so I decided to continue with RGB combination (I made L-RGB images successfully in PI with other data). After that I decided to reduce starsize in the blue channel (caused by the lens). Than the use of silvercups HaRGB script was true fun. I like it. It works fine, despite the issue with applied STF.

Altogether I am very satisfied with the result and I hope you like it too.
