Hi,

These are the last two images from my offline CDK 17. They are from the hot summer nights  . As always, any comments are welcome!.

Hi,

After a pair of months of rain, I had a short window of two "clear" days. I could finally finish my short photograph of M51. Next year I'll add more hours.

Hope you like it. Any comments are welcome.

Hi,

Yesterday I tried to combine two images of different binning, and I found some steps that works quite well. I wanted to share it with you:

What do you think?

Hi,

Despite the so-so seeing, I'm somehow proud of this image. This galaxy is richer than M33 in all aspects.

Wish List / Roadmap
« on: 2012 March 12 16:40:48 »
Hi,

I know there are a lot of things going on, and I would like to know what are the new features to be expected.

i.e.: ACNR has been deprecated, what is new tool, how it will work, how it will improve the noise reduction? (from a 10000 meters point of view).

Am I the only one wishing this?.

Regards,
Manuel.

Hi,

This is another archived image in the queue for processing. After processsing it, It feels quite different to any M97 image I have seen, the 3nm filter it's doing a good job here!:

Hi,

The colors of this one surprised me. I have seen it in the web much more blue, but the calibration (via different ways) tell me that the colors are right. Who knows whats right.

Hi,

A lot of effort on this one. I'm already at the limit of my system in terms of light gathering!

Hi,

I tried to use the new PI multiscale noise reduction algorithm, and somehow I managed to stretch the image much more!.

The tidal and the IFN are now clearly visible.

Hi,

I'm thinking about capturing the same data binned and unbinned, to get nice SNR in the faint nebulosity without erasing the detail in the good SNR data. The only thing I can think of it's a SNR mask, but that doesn't work well, because the stars will get bigger because of the unbinned image.

A star mask will do the trick, but creating a perfect star mask is something outside my knowledge.

Any ideas?.

Manuel.

Gallery / Sh2 181, an unknown object
« on: 2012 January 03 11:26:38 »
Hi,

I couldn't find any references nor images of this object, so I decided to give it a try.

It's a rather ugly, faint and uninteresting object. It also needs more exposure (at least 4x), but I decided to stop here.

http://www.manuelj.com/Astronomy/Nebula/SH2-181

It's supposed to be associated with Cassiopeia OB7.

Gallery / M1, Crab Nebula CDK17
« on: 2011 December 21 12:44:28 »
Hi,

After a terrible month, I have been able to finish this image. I have moved into longer subs (30 min), independently of the binning... and what an increase of signal in broadband!

I've tried to leave the nebula with the most natural color after adding the Ha to the mix. Most of the M1 I have seen are bloody red, and that seems a bit unbalanced.

Any comments are welcome.
