Workshops and Conferences / PixInsight in the UK - July 2013
« on: 2013 March 26 14:55:49 »
Ian King's next Advanced Imaging Course which includes a couple of hours on PI by Harry and myself will take place on 20th July in Coventry.

The content will be very similar to the last one held at Herstmonceux Castle back in December. We're hoping a more central location in the UK will favour those who couldn't attend in December.

See Ian's website for more details

I've been trying to capture this target for some time. This winter I've collected a lot of LRGB data and have been very critical in rejecting bad data. I've thrown around 25% of the subs away.

Lum 4 hours, RGB 2 hours each all at 10 minutes exposures using STL-11K on FSQ106 at f/3.6, Astrodon filters

Quite pleased with the result  :D

I do love these wide field images, especially those with lots of dust

Very nice!

Nigel

PS One thing though, you appear to have flipped M45 through 180° .....

Thanks all for positive comments  :)

To answer individual questions

Lex, no it's not a mosaic. The STL-11000 on the FSQ106 gives a field of view around 5° x 3.5°

Peter, no I wasn't aware of the script so thanks for that

Alejandro, yes there is some red on the right and I think this is due to the flat field used on the Ha image not being 100 per cent true. I had applied DBE to all of the Master Frames (R,G,B and Ha) prior to combination.

I been experimenting with adding Ha to RGB. I've followed Harry's tutorial based on Vicents procedure

The Ha data was collected in January 2011, RGB last month

Taken with FSQ106 at f/3.6 and STL-11000 using Astrodon filters

Juan

I've just found the problem  :D

I noticed in your example that you are registering as well whereas I am only calibrating on my PC here. When I uncheck the Calibrate Only checkbox all Lights are calibrated and registered.

When I check the Calibrate Only check box only the first set of Lights are calibrated

Thanks Juan

Firstly, the version of the BPP script I am running is 1.22, I notice you are running 1.25

Secondly, when I load the Master Flats, they are not automatically selected as Master Flats

I have to manually select Master Bias, Dark and Flat checkboxes. I've tried selecting these checkboxes before using Add Files and still get the same problem of only processing the first filter set.

Nigel, can you upload your images (or some of them) where I can download them for testing?

Thanks Juan

Bug Reports / Batch Preprocessing Script
« on: 2013 January 28 16:23:01 »
I've recently started using the Batch Preprocessing Script to save considerable time in calibrating my subs

I've encountered a problem in that the Script will only ever calibrate the first set of lights even though I've added Red, Green and Blue light frames. I've reproduced this on my Win 7 Pro 64 bit desktop and Win 7 Pro 32-bit laptop

Has anybody also encountered this problem? If so is there a work around?

Thanks in advance

Would go to this if it was a lttle closer - it's a very long drive from Peterborough.

I've recently upgraded my mount and this was first light. Only 4 x 20 minute exposures but pleased with the outcome  :D

There may be something happening this Autumn. I can't say too much at the moment but talks are underway .......
