PixInsight LE 1.0.2.143
PixInsight Limited Edition (LE) is a freeware subset of the PixInsight Standard platform as it was at the beginning of 2005. PixInsight LE includes a comprehensive set of fundamental image processing tools and also a few advanced, state-of-the-art processing resources that even today have only been superseded by PixInsight Standard.
PixInsight's LE and Standard editions do not share the same architecture. In particular, PixInsight LE is not a modular system, so you cannot install/uninstall processes and file formats in PixInsight LE. PixInsight LE has a fixed 32-bit floating point processing engine, while PixInsight Standard is able to handle seven sample formats transparently, from 8-bit integers to 64-bit floating point.
Starting from version 1.0.1, you may choose between two different installations for PixInsight LE. This has been done this way to facilitate downloads with slow dial-up Internet connections, and to allow for a compact installation.
You must install version LE 1.0.1.141 first. Then you should install an additional file that will update your installation to the latest 1.0.2 version, build 143.

You can choose one of these two installation packages:
This package will install a local copy of the complete official documentation. It will need roughly 22 MB on your hard disk. If you install this package, you can use the Help > Help Index (F1) main menu option to access the documentation on your system, and then no Internet connection is required by PixInsight LE.
Binary
files only installation (5.46 MB)
This package includes no documentation. It will require just 5 MB on your hard disk. If you install this package, then the Help > Help Index menu item will not work because the required documentation files will not be found on your computer. In this case you'll have to access the online documentation through Help > Online Help (Shift-F1), which requires an active Internet connection.
Note that the online help system can be used regardless you install or not a local copy of the documentation. The Help > Online Help (Shift-F1) main menu option is always available.
2. Install LE 1.0.2.143 Update

Version 1.0.2 (build 143) includes the DynamicBackgroundExtraction (DBE) process. DBE is a powerful and flexible tool for correction of uneven field illumination and color in deep-sky astrophotography. DBE is the ideal interactive tool to fix all types of vignetting and sky gradient problems. Version 1.0.2 also includes a luminance masking upgrade to the SGBNR process. A new tutorial for DBE is also available.
Previous build 142 fixed a minor bug found in the FITS format support routines. Version 1.0.2.143 includes this bug fix and all bug fixes found as of the date of release.
To apply this update, you must have previous build 141 correctly installed (see Step 1 above). Follow these steps:

The update file is a standard Windows executable (.exe). Double-click it to run.

The WinRAR Self-Extracting Archive application window opens. In the Destination Folder edit line, the folder on your hard disk where PixInsight LE is installed should appear. If you didn't change it upon installation, this folder should be:
C:\Program Files\Pleiades Astrophoto\PixInsight LE
or an equivalent folder for "Program Files", according to the particular localization of your MS Windows operating system. Normally, the correct folder is automatically selected. If this is not the case, please select it manually by clicking the Browse button.

Click the Install button to install. You'll be asked to replace the existing PixInsightLE32.exe file. Click the Yes button.
To verify that you updated PixInsight LE correctly, run it and select Help > About PixInsight LE. You should see Version 1.0.2.143 on the About window.
